Train with me

Let's find the way that fits your life.

Personal training & endurance coaching in Arlington, Northern Virginia & online

I work with people two ways. I train you in person at my private Arlington studio, or I coach you online if you're an endurance athlete who wants to get stronger and fuel better. You can also pair strength and nutrition in one plan.

In person · Arlington & Northern Virginia

In-person personal training in Arlington & Northern Virginia

This is for everyday adults who want to feel strong, move well for the long haul, and walk out more confident than they walked in. I also love coaching youth and high-school athletes. We train together in my private Arlington studio, and your program is built around your goals and grows with you.

Endurance Strength Training

Two short sessions a week that give endurance athletes the strength most of us skip. We build strong hips, a solid posterior chain, and feet and ankles that hold up to the miles. I program it around your race calendar so it supports your training instead of eating into it.

  • For runners, cyclists, and triathletes
  • Goes after the weakness behind most injuries
  • Built around your training, not piled on top of it

Endurance Fueling & Nutrition

I've spent years sorting out my own fueling the hard way, including a few long days I'd rather forget. I'm a certified nutritionist, so we build your everyday and race-day fueling together and stop the guessing on gels, carbs, and sodium.

  • Race-day fueling that actually holds up
  • Carbs, sodium, and hydration dialed to you
  • Real food, no fad diets

Online endurance strength & fueling coaching

Online Endurance Coaching

Strength and fueling for endurance athletes, programmed for you from anywhere. I'm an ultra runner training for the Moab 240, so this comes from the same stuff I'm working through, not a textbook. Built for the runner or cyclist who wants to finally add strength.

  • Strength that protects and powers your miles
  • A fueling plan for long days and race day
  • Remote programming, check-ins, and tweaks as we go

I'm sharing my own build to the Moab 240 this October over on @tarahinturquoise.

How it starts

Getting started is simple.

No memberships, no pressure, no guesswork. It starts with a conversation.

  1. Step 1:

    Free intro call

A relaxed, no-pressure conversation about your goals, history, and schedule. We figure out whether in-studio or online coaching fits you best.

  2. Step 2:

    A plan built for you

I design programming around your real life and experience level, not a template. Strength, nutrition, and (for athletes) the fueling strategy to back it.

  3. Step 3:

    Train & progress

We get to work and measure what matters. Programs progress week to week, and I adjust as you get stronger and your goals evolve.

FAQ

A few things I get asked a lot.

Don't see your question here? Book the free intro call and ask me. I'll give you a straight answer.

Will lifting make me slower or bulky?

Real talk, no. The strength work I give endurance athletes is heavy and low-rep, built for force, not size. Most people end up holding the same paces at a lower effort. Getting bulky takes a ton of volume and a big calorie surplus, which is the opposite of how you train and eat.

I'm a runner who hates the gym. Can you still help?

That's honestly who I love working with. I'm a runner too, so I keep your strength work short and specific and built around your miles, not some bodybuilding routine. Two 45-minute sessions a week is usually all it takes to feel a difference.

Will strength work eat into my training time?

No. Two 45-minute sessions a week is the sweet spot, and I program it around your key runs and rides so it supports your training. When you're deep in a race build, we drop to one session to maintain.

Can strength training really fix my injuries?

A lot of endurance injuries (IT band, runner's knee, plantar fasciitis) come back to weakness and imbalance. When you build the strength, the durability tends to follow. It's the most useful thing most of us skip.

Do you coach online, or only in person?

Both. You can train with me in person at my private studio in Arlington, or work with me online from anywhere with remote programming, fueling, and regular check-ins.

Do you only work with endurance athletes?

Not at all. A lot of who I see in person are everyday adults, often in their 40s, 50s, and up, who want to get stronger, move well, and feel more confident for the long haul. I also love coaching youth and high-school athletes. The online side is where I focus more on runners and cyclists.

What does the fueling coaching cover?

I'm a certified nutritionist and I race ultras, so I coach the fueling a lot of run coaches don't get into. Carbs, sodium, hydration, and a real race-day plan, so you stop guessing and feel good late in the day.

What are your qualifications?

I have a B.S. in Kinesiology from William & Mary, I'm an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a Mac Nutrition Certified Nutritionist, and I've been training people for 15+ years. On the racing side I've qualified for Ironman 70.3 Worlds, won my age group at Unbound 200, and I'm training for the Moab 240 this fall.

What happens on the free intro call?

It's just a relaxed chat about your goals and what's gotten in the way so far. I'm a pretty relational person, so I really want to understand where you're at. By the end you'll know how I'd build your training and fueling and whether in-person or online makes more sense. No pressure either way.
