Tarah Romano · Personal trainer & endurance coach in Arlington, VA
Hi, I'm Tarah.
I'm a personal trainer and nutritionist in Arlington. I started Romano Fit & Fuel because I wanted coaching to feel personal, simple, and built around your actual life. I'm a pretty relational person, so that's how I work.
Work with me
Two things shaped how I coach. Years of learning how the body actually gets stronger, and years of asking a lot of my own body in endurance sport.
I studied Kinesiology at William & Mary, became an NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and got my Mac Nutrition certification. So I get to coach the training and the fueling together, the way they really work. I started out writing programs online. Over time it grew into working with people face to face, in a small private studio in Arlington.
Most of who I work with in person are everyday adults, a lot of them in their forties, fifties, and up. They're not chasing race times. They want to feel strong, move well, and stay confident in their bodies for a long time. I also love coaching younger athletes who are just figuring out what their bodies can do.
The other side of what I do is endurance. I'm a trail runner. I've qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, won my age group at the Unbound 200, and finished 6th woman in my first 100K. Right now I'm training for the Moab 240, a 240-mile race out in the desert in October, and I'm documenting the whole messy build on Instagram. A lot of runners and cyclists I coach online are in the same spot I was once in. They put in the miles but never lift, and they want to add strength and finally fuel right. That part of coaching kind of found me.
Whether you want to feel strong for the next few decades, you're a runner who's never quite felt at home in the gym, or you're a young athlete chasing a goal, I'll meet you where you are and build the plan around your life.
Why train with me
I'll show you the why
B.S. in Kinesiology from William & Mary, NASM, and Mac Nutrition. I keep it simple, but there's real science under every program.
I'm a relational person
I get to know your life first. Then I build the plan around it, not the other way around.
I train too
I've qualified for Ironman 70.3 Worlds, won my age group at Unbound 200, and I'm training for the Moab 240. A lot of what I coach is stuff I've had to figure out myself.
I'm local, or online
I'm in Arlington, VA. I train people in person across Northern Virginia, and I coach endurance athletes online anywhere.
